Laundry At Disneyland Hotels: Everything To Know

There are many reasons why you might want to do laundry at Disneyland hotels while travelling. From accidents and stains, to packing light or just wanting to get a jump on the laundry pile before going home. No matter the reason, there are a few options available if you need to clean your clothes while staying at one of the three Disneyland hotels in California.

You can do your own laundry at any of the Disneyland hotels in their on-site, low cost, self-service laundry rooms. There are also dry cleaning services available for an additional cost at all of the Disneyland hotels: Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, and The Disneyland Hotel.

Each family should decide which option will work the best for them, either self-service or dry cleaning. Or maybe you just need to wash a handful of items and can make it through with just a standard hotel room sink wash. In this article I have researched all of the options available to you while staying at the Disneyland hotels. I have done the hard work so you can easily make the best decision for yourselves.

Self Service Options For Laundry At The Disneyland Hotels

Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel:

• Location: On the second floor next to the fitness center
• Hours: 24 hours
• Payment: At the machines by credit or debit card only

The Disneyland Hotel:

• Location: On the first floor next to the Goofy About Fitness health center
• Hours: 24 hours
• Payment: At the machines by credit or debit card only

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel:

• Location: There are two laundry rooms at the Grand Californian. The first is located on the first floor by the Disney Vacation Club wing. The second is located on the second floor by the Napa Rose elevators.
• Hours: 24 hours
• Payment: At the machines by credit or debit card only

Dry Cleaning Options for Laundry at Disneyland Hotels

If you do not want to do your own laundry while you are travelling, you don’t have to. You can pay for dry cleaning and valet laundry services to be done for you at the hotel. All three of the Disneyland hotels offer dry cleaning and valet laundry Monday through Saturday.

The first option is to use the valet laundry service, which is a fancy term for someone else washing your clothes. To use the service, just place your dirty clothes in the laundry bag provided in your hotel room closet. Your housekeeper will pick it up when they clean your room in the morning. They will do the wash for you, and return your clothes the next day. You will find the pricing list for these services usually on a card attached to the laundry bag.

Instead of valet laundry you could go all the way and have your clothes dry cleaned on site. Dry cleaning can be done in the same process as valet laundry, or you can request same day service. To have your items dry cleaned and returned the same day, you will need to drop off your items with Bell Services in the lobby by 8am. Same day dry cleaning is then returned by 6pm.

Charges for valet laundry or dry cleaning services will be added to your hotel room bill to be paid when you check out. There’s a reason that I suggested doing your own laundry first. That’s because Disney hotel laundry services (hotels in general) tend to charge very high prices for laundry. But hey, it may just be worth it to you in order to get more vacation time out of your vacation.

Hotel Room Sink Laundry – A Last Resort

So you don’t have enough time to sit in the laundry room, and you don’t want to pay for someone else to clean your stuff. The only other option you have is to do some manual washing in the hotel room sink. Hotel room sink laundry is a tried and true method of “cleaning” smaller items in a pinch.

If you do choose to use your hotel room sink for washing, you will also need a way to dry your items. All of the Disney hotels have a wire clothes line that extends across the top of the bathtub. Otherwise, if you can’t find one those, maybe try using the hangers from the closet (as long as they are plastic or metal hangers). You could also search for portable clothes lines on Amazon. That would be a good option if you find yourself travelling a lot or doing a lot of sink laundry.

Tips For Doing Laundry At Disneyland Hotels

If you know in advance that you are planning to do laundry while you’re travelling, I would also recommend planning your laundry session in advance too. Not only can planning ahead for your laundry save you money, it can also save you valuable vacation time. I have researched with past guests who have done laundry at Disneyland hotels, and have compiled their helpful tips together.

1. BYOP – Bring Your Own Laundry Products

Disneyland hotel laundromats do have detergent available for sale. There is only one option and it is usually a generic brand. The detergent along with other similar items are sold in a vending machine in the laundromat. In most cases it goes for around $5.00 per box.

Purchasing detergent from the hotel is definitely more expensive than doing a load of laundry at home. Save on the cost, and the time of purchasing it, and bring your own from home instead. Of course, you will also want to bring your own if you have special needs or preferences when it comes to your detergent.

I prefer the option of bringing your own detergent in reusable bottles because it is much more environmentally friendly and saves money in the long run. However, if you don’t want to mess with cleaning them, try looking on Amazon for special single use travel detergent packs. Or you could bring some Tide Pods or something similar in a container from home. It’s probably best to use a harder container like a small tupperware to prevent accidentally breaking them in advance.

2. Plan How To Get Your Laundry To And From The Laundry Room

When I travel with my family and we bring multiple suitcases, after we unpack on arrival, one of the empty suitcases always transforms into the designated dirty laundry hamper. You can employ this technique too and then just wheel your laundry down to the laundry room on wash day.

Otherwise, you could also bring a separate laundry bag with you (or maybe a clean trash bag) to transport your clothes to the laundry room instead. The benefit with the laundry bag is you can keep your empty suitcase “cleaner” instead of it being filled with dirty, festering clothes. I personally think the suitcase transport is a more convenient option though.

3. Plan To Do Laundry Outside Of Park Hours Or On A Hotel Break

Let’s face it, even at Disneyland, doing laundry is still a chore. One might even argue it is even more of a chore to do while on vacation. Let alone while at the happiest place on earth. Not to mention, your stay at Disneyland is not free. You want to make sure you use your time wisely in order to get a good value for your money.

That said, plan your laundry session for sometime outside of park hours. Or, do it on a midday hotel break while you’re napping, dining, or at the pool. Try to work it into your day rather than plan your day around it. For example, if you’re getting breakfast onsite, maybe throw a load in first so you can pick it back up when you’re done.
